Following the death of Paul Howell, the MEP for Norfolk until 1994 in a plane crash in Mozambique on Monday.

Andrew Duff commented '"I am saddened to hear of the tragic death of Paul Howell. Paul joined the Liberal Democrats from the Conservative Party in 2001. A good European, Paul was sickened by the fact that the Tories had swung to the nationalist right. He was an energetic and colourful Norfolk figure."
